As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
What you might not know is that the heroine in my September release, THE WONDER OF NOW, is a breast cancer survivor. As such, I’ve joined forces with BookSparks to raise money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and to surprise a few patients with gifts.
To learn more, go HERE to nominate your warrior, buy #TheWonderOfNow (BookSparks will donate 20% of profits for each verified purchase), and share your #pinkspines2019 on social media.
Although I’ve not faced this illness myself, I’ve had friends and family members who’ve awed me with their strength and courage in that fight. I also know that raising money for research is the least of what I (or anyone) can do to help patients. If you have someone in your life who is dealing with cancer, remember all the little things that can make their life easier–a grocery run, an offer to do laundry, endless hugs, and a safe space to cry when that is needed. And if you are a patient looking for advice and solace, you might also want to check out M.K. Meredith’s book, Not Your Usual Boob, which she describes as the book she wished she could’ve read when dealing with her diagnosis (and as “A little informative, a little sarcastic, a little funny—I hope—and a lot real.”).
