what’s happening with me …

I just returned from a girls’ trip to Mexico, so I’m feeling rejuvenated and ready for a new month. February is historically one of my favorite months of the year. Yes, I’m a sucker for Valentine’s Day and all things romantic, but I also love snow and skiing, and this is the month we typically travel to Utah with my husband’s extended family. We are also in the midst of the college frenzy as my daughter’s acceptances and rejections come in, which is making February a particularly important month this year. She’s our eldest, so we are all a bit stressed about where she’ll end up and if she’ll be happy. You could say things are a bit hectic in the Beck household this month.

But February is also a great month to cozy up by a fire and read…or, in my case, write. As you can see, I’ve been busy trying to create a new format for my newsletter. Please let me know how you like it! I’ve also just handed in developmental edits on The Wonder of Now (which comes out in September) and am looking forward to the release of The Promise of Us in a couple of months, so I’m working on some articles about that as well. It’s been fun to write a series set here in Connecticut. I hope you are enjoying getting to know Steffi, Claire, and Peyton as they mend rifts and courageously work through their individual traumas to come out stronger in the end.

Finally, I’m very happily working on a new project, tentatively titled Between the Lines (a spring 2020 release) which involves a little mystery and a little romance as two sisters struggle to get their lives and their relationship with each other back on track. I really think you will enjoy this one!

As always, I’m so grateful for any time you choose to spend with me. You’ve given me a career I love, so I hope I can continue to entertain you well!

XO

Jamie

Four Fun Tips

When people think of Valentine’s Day, they picture roses and chocolates. Well, I’m a morning person who loves breakfast, so I prefer breakfast in bed to either of the above. If your special someone is like me, surprise them with any of these special pancakes!

Here’s the perfect Valentine’s gift for your favorite reader: Book Riot’s popular reading journal. This gift will challenge your Valentine to diversify his or her bookshelves. Maybe you can add The Memory Of You to his or her list!

Instead of focusing all of your romantic attention on Valentine’s Day, why not plan a few romantic surprises throughout the month? Light candles at dinner each night this month. Try some new recipes or wines with dinner throughout the month. Surprise your partner with hidden notes or unexpected sexy texts when they don’t expect it.

Whether you’ve invited friends over for the Super Bowl (Hello, Maroon 5!) or the Oscars, you’ll need some snacks. Here are 50 great appetizers to choose from.

I thought you might enjoy a little peek at where I spend the majority of my time most days. This is my office. It’s not usually this neat (and some of you probably don’t even think this is neat!), but we had company over the holidays, so I got a little more organized. My view is of our street, although not much happens out there because we live at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. Mo keeps me company, sitting in my comfortable recliner (where I do a lot of editing) and looking out the window. He stands guard, ready to frighten away the postman and any other delivery person who dares cross onto our property.

It’s funny to think about all the people and places I’ve created from this spot. I think being transported elsewhere is what I love best about writing (and reading). My other favorite part of this job hearing from any of you for any reason (but especially when you really enjoyed a book).

Happy reading!
